Grace

It is getting harder and harder to know when to keep a no a no. Addison is the Queen of playing the game. She will yell at me "I want my blanket!" over and over. Then when I say "I am not getting it for you because you were not nice to me" she will say "pleeeeeese" in a VERY sweet voice. I am trying to hold the line that if she does not ask nicely the first time she does not get what she is asking for.

So the CFO started introducing Grace to the kids, like a second chance. It if funny how frequently I forget about giving Grace but I sure am glad to have it. When they don't ask nicely they now get to ask for Grace. I just need to be sure they don't use that as a tool against me:)

Grace is the very opposite of merit...Grace is not only undeserved favor, but it is favor shown to the one who has deserved the very opposite.
Harry Ironside

The first and possibly most fundamental characteristic of divine grace is that it presupposes sin and guilt. Grace has meaning only when men are seen as fallen, unworthy of salvation, and liable to eternal wrath… Grace does not contemplate sinners merely as undeserving but as ill-deserving… It is not simply that we do not deserve grace; we do deserve hell.

What a great way to introduce the concept to your kids! It's hard for me to remember to show it sometimes as well, although I sure am glad to have received more than my fair share of grace.
